Widmer Brothers Brewing

About The Brand

After quitting their jobs in 1984, the Widmer brothers decide to turn their hobby into a vocation and open their own brewery. They pulled all of their resources together and built the Widmer Brewing Company in NW Portland. The brothers start by brewing Altbeir, meaning Old Beer in German, and a Weizenbier, their interpretation of a filtered wheat beer. Asked by the owner of the local Dublin Pub for a third beer for him to serve, the American-Style Hefeweizen was born by leaving the Weizenbier unfiltered resulting in a cloudy appearance.
